Due to getting less than 2 hours sleep last night thanks to the baby I deceided to drive ;) so i'm about to go and get in my climate controlled box instead of 7 miles up hill with a 35mph headwind:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

but hay tomorrow morning should see a new pb to work

Last week when I was doing 11 and 12 hour days the weather was fine, yet this week when I am getting of on time - the weather is bad..... Typical!

Always the way - Mondays are my only predictable opportunity to ride all the way back from work instead of bike-train-biking it. Predictably, Monday seems to be this year's special day for crap weather.

Things seem to have calmed down now so I might sneak out for an hour's spin after Bolletta has been put to bed.

I was up at normal time ready for my commute but had to spend about 3/4 hour securing the fence that had blown down again which meant that I would have been late had I not took the car.

Back from work now and the fence is down again

Am consistently riding to work daily, and people at work think I'm mad. I felt it this morning with a stonking (cold) headwind. Someone on the forum once told me a headwind is extra training, a bit like a hill that's not there, or if you're going uphill it makes it that bit harder!!

Pleasant tail wind home though.

Today has definitely been the worst wind since I started cycling in (and still getting used to the dark as well!!) but I enjoyed the challenge coming home (into the wind), took me a bit longer as expected but what I found really interesting was that I burnt up alot more calories than normal according to my HRM (even taking into account the longer time) so I think that proves how much harder I was working.

The only bit that I got annoyed with is when I get to the top of one hill I normally just freewheel down the first wee bit to get my breath back, cause I was going right into the wind I was going no where and just seemed to stay in one place

I got home eventually last night. Left work at 5pm not too bad light rain but the roads where very eer damp. I got to a railway bridge that I have to go under which was flooded it did not look very deep so decided to go for it, selected a nice low gear and started through water soon up to the crank and a few feet later the bow wave is up to my knees. I managed to ride out the other side much to my surprise. Then a few yards later my front wheel hit a stone that I heard ping out, I thought that was lucky. ¼ of a mile later when I am on a unlit track through the woods I hear a hissing and as all the snakes are all tucked up for the winter it must be those nasty P fairies. Luckily I have my Tesco helmet mounted torch so I can see what I am doing and mend the hissing noise and ride home in the heaviest rain ever. When I get in at 6:30 (normally 25min ride) I am soaked to the skin, nice n’ warm and beaming from ear to ear, what a great adventure bring on the blizzards.

That's the spirit!! :birthday:

I arrived home at about the same time as my next door neighbour who's a lovely lady but not what you'd call an outdoor girl. She called out, "you didn't ride to work in all this, did you?" so I spent a while pointing out to her that it's not as bad as all that when you're out in it and, OK, I was a bit damp but I was warm enough and a quick warm shower would sort out all the muck on my legs and set me up for the evening.

Today we have lovely bright blue skies and I am really looking forward to home time.

I got delayed leaving last night and by the time I set off it was only very light rain with not much wind. I felt a little cheated that I had missed the fun ;)

Very windy here on the coast today and it's getting windier. The last part of my ride in the morning is down the main road that goes straight to the sea front and the buildings either side acted as a funnel, it was that gusty I had to gear right down and angle the bike into the kerb to keep a straight(ish) line. The usual 30 minute ride turned into a 45 minute slog.

We decided last night to brave the bikes on our 2 mile cycle to the doctors' for our flu jab.

Firstly I discovered that the rechargable batteries I have put in my cateye front light aren't as good as 'real' batteries.

Secondly I discovered that there was a surprising amount of standing water on the roads which I couldn't really see until I was going through it (no streetlights as we live out in the countryside).

Thirdly I managed to find a fantastic long puddle and hit it at JUST the right speed/angle to fountain the water up my trouser leg (I'm on a recumbent trike) and settle on my bum, kept in nicely by my waterproof trousers.

The nurse at the doctors' surgery couldn't believe we'd cycled in. She's our neighbour and she said she's tucked her bike up for the winter now. But when we got home we were grinning from ear to ear - it was great fun, despite the wet backside!

Was supposed to be 9 degrees outside but it was freezing with that wind.

My ass is still freezing and I forgot my gloves.
Defo the hardest journey back tonight and took an extra 10 miins. Even worse than the Snow a couple of weeks back.

As wind whinger-in-chief, can I say that today didn't seem that bad, apart from a few i-seem-to-be-completely-stationary gusts, while pedalling like stink! Perhaps I'm just used to it, it seems to blow non stop in the blyth valley/SE northumberland area (and always head on)
