When was the last time you walked into a travel agent's shop?

I suspect that those who book holidays via travel agents are not replying because a Google search suggests around 40% of holidays are booked this way, with around a third of those using shops.

Maybe 6 years ago. With my wife. We went to (i think) a local agent..... Hayes Travel. They/she was very helpful. We booked with them and had a brill holiday.
NB
We noticed that, on google, the hotel had a few "superior" rooms the the agent couldn't offer. I contacted the hotel direct, told them we had booked via an agent and they reserved one of them for us AND on arrival they wouldn't accept any money for it.......win win.

The last time I peered in a travel agent's window was at the beginning of lockdown: ranks of empty shelves, and a huge pile of brochures on the floor just inside the door.

The only time I've bought a holiday was 1984.

Not a bricks and mortar shop, but we did book this year through an online holiday planner. Basically a one person band who booked the train tickets and hotels. We could have done it ourselves for a bit less but it saves us coordinating it all

My only foreign travel in the last 20 years is the euro-zone, and spending has gone from mostly cash to mostly card or contactless... But I'd never arrive anywhere abroad without having circa £100-200 in the local currency.

Here's a question: when did you last use travellers' cheques? 1999 for me.

Probably thirty years ago I reckon.

About 15 years, since Tom and his team closed their agency down in town. Absolutely excellent in every way, he and they used to delight in putting together our itineraries. Knew us so well he used to tell us when we suggested somewhere he knew we'd hate

Wish I could find another Tom.

Not since I was a kid with parents. Wife and I just pick a place, find accommodation and book travel.
A few of my mates who do big family holidays, i.e. Disney and so on use them as they are going on fairly long and complex holidays.

I reckon 1998 was the last time I used a high street travel agent in the UK, and I can place it by where I was working at the time. I got home internet at the start of 1999 and never looked back.

I did however go into a Spanish one in about 2006 to buy a train ticket as they were the local ticket agent for the railways in this train-free town, but today with a smartphone I would have done that on-line too.
