I don't think it's any secret that Vickster likes the smaller manufacturers, and it's her prerogative to have a more negative opinion on the big ones. I wouldn't take it too personally on behalf of Specialized.

Were you not victim to a quibble over frame warranty with specialized though @vickster I've only heard this through a third party so don't shoot me if the info is wrong ?

Nope, not me...I just find their bikes utterly uninspiring and they don't come across as a very ethical business
The clothing is ok, especially the gloves

Last year on the easter weekend Evans & Edinburgh Bikes had a sale on new bikes similar to September discounts.
I got my new bike then.
Not from either of those I just asked my lbs if they would price match, which they did.

Good question.
Not sure if Specialised was included I think it was several makes.
I got a Cannondale Synapse 15% off which is what they were going for in September.
A mate of mine got a Giant Defy the year before.
It was a nice way to get a bike at a discount and ride it through Summer without having to wait.
