I read a thread on here a few months ago. @Scoosh we discussed this a couple of months ago. Cycling etiquette between roadies and all other cyclists. (Have you got the link)
Anyway the reason I ask.
Today in the middle of nowhere I herd a couple of bikes coming in my direction at speed. (Motorbikes). As a speed freek I was looking forward to them screaming past me. So as I pooteld up the hill they turned the corner and the strangest thing happend. The pair of them looked at me and gave me that nod. You know the one men do when they don't know you but are like orite? Yeah that one.
Have I missed somthing or is this a legit thing that happens?

I get the nod all the time, it's just an acknowledgement of one cyclist to another.
I meet regulars when out, and we've got to know each other in passing so we'll often say 'good morning' or 'nice day'. Sometimes it's just a smile and a wave :hello:

I usually get the nod from roadies passing in the opposite direction, which must mean that after spending a fortune on the right gear I look like a proper roadie. I always nod or raise a hand to others. I almost always chat with cyclists when I'm in the same place and going at the same speed. Had a good ride yesterday during which I met and chatted with several other cyclists and showed a solo tourer a better alternative descent off Jeffrey Hill to Ribchester.

I nod to 'Roadies' and normally get a nod back...... Not sure about Roadie to MTB etiquette.......or Roadie to B.S.O.....

Has anyone tagged @ianrauk in on this I know he really enjoys this topic:whistle:

This is a Modern Manners nightmare. I ride a road bike wearing fully cycling gear. Therefore, when I see another road bike cyclist with full cycling gear of course I nod or say hello. At the other end of the spectrum, if there is some hoodie riding a MTB on the pavement I ignore him.

So at what point do you stop nodding, and start ignoring?

For me, I always acknowledge all road bike cyclists. MTBers in MTB gear I also acknowledge. MTBers in "normal" clothes I ignore, even if they're on the road. Of course if they're on the pavement I ignore them and then throw a rock at them when they've gone past.
