Have you ever ridden route 68? It is crazy steep in West Yorks! I’ll take a look at it though as I’ve never investigated it further north.

I have ridden lots of the local sections of it. And yes - it IS!

That climb north out of Slaithwaite is a killer and so is the cobbled Buttress out of Hebden Bridge, among many others ...

I've done all except that bit in the middle in West Yorkshire. The last section I did was Derby to Holmfirth, finishing just before a killer hill. I need to go back and finish it sometime.

@minininjarob if you haven’t set off yet consider these.

Train to Appleby in Westmorland or Penrith and follow the Pennine Cycleway to Berwick. Lovely ride and only one, Hartside, serious climb that I can recall.

Another would be to pop over to Lancashire to ride the Lancashire Cycleway or parts of it. It’s +/- 270 miles in total. A good combination of flat, rolling and hills.
