Where to stick my pump?

For my daily commute I use a ruck sack and my mini-pump is forgotten at the bottom of my bag. However I have started doing longer 40-50 mile weekend rides and I'm fed up of a sweaty back. I've just bought a saddle bag and everything fits nicely in there. But the question is what to do with my pump?

I have bought some C02 cartidges - but I'm not confident it was a good idea, I'll still need a pump won't I?

Suggestions?

Normally, mini pumps come with two clips that fasten under the bottle cage. Really neat, and you've always got your pump with you. Didn't you get any? Can't comment on the CO2 whatsits - never used them.

When i first started riding out i used to just strap my pump to the frame with a couple of elastic straps i had spare from my diving kit. Not very fancy but did the job.

Here for rides.
CO2 will work, or blow your tyre apart if it is damaged, I carry a couple on long rides. I use a Lezyne Alloy Road mini pump which bolts on by one of my bottle cages. Never used either on my own bike(s) just helping out others in distress.

Co2 are great but I had a terrible spell of more than puncture on consecutive days and ran out of cartridges and had no pump. I would still carry a pump as well as the C02. I have a mini pump which has a bracket to fit it under one of the bottle cages but it can also go in my back pocket on a cycling jersey. Despite it's size it's plenty powerful.

I carry the smallest mini pump i could get (it is small enough to fit on a clip underneath the bottle cage, in a saddle bag or back pocket) plus a couple of co2 and an air chuck.

The mini pump will likely be a nightmare to try and get decent pressure in the tyres but it should be good enough in an emergency if ive used up the co2 (plus it is good for giving the tube a bit of shape before fitting the tyre and then using the co2)

Do you want to limp home, or carry on riding?

If the former, any mini pump.

If the latter, ime the Specialized Air Tool Road, Topeak Road Morph (both clip to bottle cage bolt mounts) or a Topeak Road Master Blaster (frame pump that "expands" to wedge under your top tube, for example) will all do the job.

Mine screws to the down tube although I've replaced the clip with another bottle cage. I now tuck it in one of my back pockets instead.
