I'm doing the c2c in August on my Specialized Stumpjumper and want to fit some bar ends but don't particularly want to damage/cut my existing handlebars which are fine for my normal off road mountain biking. The longer distance training I've been doing has highlighted the fact that its my wrists that ache rather than my backside(!) so I really need to sort this out before August.

So please can someone tell me which bar ends to get because there seem to be loads of options and I have no idea which to buy!
Thx.

bear in mind that fitting bar ends will reduce the width of your bar by about 30-40mm as your levers and grips will have to move in to make space for them.

My advice is by metal ones instead of those covered in some 'ergonomic' plastic.... when it's hot, putting your palms around a nice cool bar end is.... ahhhhhhh.

I have one set of these and for barends they are probably amongst the best if not the best, albeit on the heavy side. Despite being happy with your grips if you have wrist pain you might also want to consider Ergons, they come in various forms and I have two both amazingly comfortable - cheaper copies are available but I have no idea how good those are.

i had this trouble so i spent £15 in Evans buying bars ends, did not offer me enough hand positions,so i bought some Butterfly bars.Superb£19-99.off e bay a proper cycling outlet.Gives me at least 5 hand holds now.Only a £5 more than bar ends and easy to slip brakes onto.

£ 14-95 free postage, derekcyclesonline an e bay outlet.
Of course you will have to buy some bar tape i bought the foam to go with these and it's a bit thin.So i put tape over the top.Bought that from Evans online cheaper than the shop.Butterly bars so comfortable and they look great also.

My advise would be to try some out. If friends have them on bikes try that, or at least go to a shop & get a feel of them. I have large hands & find if bar ends are not big enough they are not comfortable & a waste of time. Some have shaped grips & these may not always fit right with your hand

Yeah I do like the look of the Cane Creek ones. Think I'll try and visit a couple of bike shops this week to try some out before I order tho.
