Which Bike on the Turbo?

I recently bought a new bike and kept the old as the "Winter" bike. Just given in and ordered a Turbo trainer and not sure which bike to use?

Having never experienced a Turbo, do they do any damage to the bike or wheels? I assume that standard tyres get a hammering though?

Should I use the new bike on the Turbo and get the old one out there when I get the chance, or should I use the old bike on the Turbo and just ride out on better days?

I suspect the former is the better option, but interested in opinions.

What do you guys suggest?

I can then decide which wheels to swap tyres on. My plan is to use the standard Giant tyres on the Turbo and then get a specific tyre once they have worn out.

if the old bike is steel don't use it as the sweat generated on the turbo will corrode the frame.

definitely get a turbo-specific tyre for the rear...

Put whatever bike you want on the turbo, no need for turbo specific tyres, but to save wear on a good tyre, maybe use an old one that is no longer good for the road, it will be fine on the turbo.

You need a third bike. My steel 653 tubed one has been on the turbo for 6 years and gets used, it has not disintegrated yet. Like Rob and old road tyre is fine.

I have 3 sets of tyres which are all in decent shape, but the standard Giant tyres are nowhere near as good as the GP4000S tyres that I bought for the Zonda's, so plan to use those on the Turbo.

The Bianchi came with Fulcrum 7's and Hutchinson Equinox tyres. Not used either yet, so not putting those tyres on there either.

Will stick the Defy back to stock and use that for first attempt, I reckon, and decide from there.

There may still be a few more days suitable for the Bianchi before Winter methinks.

I made a discovery many years ago, and that was that in time every new bike I owned turned into an old one that needed replacing.
