I live in Kent, and currently have internet provided by BT, which works well enough 99% of the time. (I only use it for emails, internet browsing and looking at a few Youtube and Iplayer clips, so not a heavy user).

We are moving to Broadstairs in the next few weeks, and we will need to set up a new internet supply. It appears that cable is not an option - not installed in the area of our new home.

Anyone got any thoughts on who to consider as an internet supplier, or maybe who not to touch with a bargepole?

Thank you.

I have always been very happy with PlusNet - I believe they may be the cheapest but I haven't checked recently. Support is based in Sheffield and they have been very friendly on the rare (two?) occasions I have called them. They are now owned by BT but it doesn't seem to have made any difference to price or service.

Been with plus net for a couple of years on an old unlimited package at £18/month.
Now switching to SKY unlimited for £3.75/month (for 12 months)

A few folks have sky broadband, and I have not heard any negatives about it, so signed up and waiting for the cutover day

I'm on Plusnet, unlimited broadband at £4.99 a month, will go up to £10 a month when the offer runs out, moved over earlier in the summer and its just worked from the off no problems.

This is the thread I started when I was working out where to move.

My Sky broadband is pants. My signal strength wavers between low and moderately low. My year is up on the 31st May 2014 and I am counting the days.
Most days I cannot stream a video and I wouldn't dare download anything as the signal is not good enough.
I tried to use Sky when I was in Scotland and they were worse and I switched to BT PDQ. OH is a big sky fan. I think that they are rubbish.

I will be going with Plusnet on the 1st June next year.

I've had sky bb for about 4 years and never had a problem, Wi-Fi is fine, and speed is very good.

if your signal is bad then its your router not broadband. do a speedtest.

http://www.speedtest.net/
It says "ping 47ms, download speed 5.8Mbps, upload speed .79mbps"
Sorry I have no idea what that means in real terms. Can you enlighten? The PC is about 4' away from the router and its got the wire thingy plugged into it. It won't do wi-fi as the white box thingy won't speak to my PC (1 year old). It won't speak to my brand new tablet either. I just reckon that its a waste of money.
