I would also say current fashions are the worst as there isn't any, just rubbish and hoodies.

I wonder if hoodie wearing yoofs could be embarrassed out of wearing them with this image?

The lady on the right of the picture looks extremely pale, faintly rigid, and seems in a somewhat advanced state of shock. Shall I dial first? Spare duplicate call outs by the emergency services, etc.

I'm amazed so many people are proposing the 80s. It was a loathsome decade in almost every respect, virtually irredeemable. But sartorially it had nothing that came even close to the monstrosities that littered the '70s.

Ok, '80s fans, beat this:

I wouldn't say I WANT to wear that look of the 70's but it was so much better than the frilly Diana look and the padded shoulders .... and no I am NOT going to post any evidence that I may have flirted with either look!!!

Very tempted to say 70s, but it was at least silly and fun in a way the 80s weren't. Top of the pops from then looks more like a kids party without jelly and ice cream.

Saying that in the mid-80s, most of us either wore chinos and a shirt (Ben Sherman featured quite a bit) or Levis and a t-shirt. Basically indistinguishable from many people in "casual" or "smart casual" today. Then came dance/rave music, ecstacy and everything changed.

I agree with the modern baggy-crotch thing though - looks like you're carrying a full collostomy bag. And sportswear should be for sports especially if you are middle-aged and borderline obese. Under no circumstances should husband and wife EVER go out in matching "his 'n her". Sorry that goes for cycling gear too.

Basically as you get older, I guess grooming becomes more important. Somewhere around 28, the grunge look morphs into the tramp look.

I wanted a panama hat this summer but couldn't get a genuine "Dan Cruickshank" in my size.
