I've had EVs since Dec 2016 (3x Renault Zoe, 1x BMW i3) and I am ready to change for another in the next month or so.

I lease them. Mostly due to being concerned about depreciation / battery tech developments (e.g. my current Zoe has 2.15x more range than my first one).

The Tesla model 3 is available to lease at the best price I've seen it for (£9,007 for 2 years / 20,000 miles) and there are some MG4s around for £10,407.60 for 3 years / 30,000 miles.

I have a charger at home, and it is very rare that I need to charge in the wild (twice in the last 12 months). For my use case, I wouldn't go back to an ICE car.

Had a slight prang on my Zoe. And the insurance company has written it off! I could probably buy it back, get it repaired, and save some money, other than:
1) Rear tailgate squeaks after a rear end collision a couple of years ago.
2) Range is only 150 miles, which is a bit limiting these days.
3) Worse than that, I can only charge at 22kW AC max, which makes long journeys very long.
4) There is a strange fault where I can only add 10% to the battery on my home charger before it trips out. Other cars, same charger is fine, my car, other chargers is also fine.
5) Sat nav card annoyingly doesn't latch into the slot, and has to be held in with a wallet.

So might take advantage and get something better. Criteria is better range (certainly not worse), faster charging (all options are good), and must be able to fit the following in the boot:
1. 2 x cyclocross bikes
2. 1 set of spare wheels
3. Rollers
4. 50 litres of water (in 2 containers)
5. Jet wash and batteries
6. Track pump
7. Stand and handlebars
8. Bag of tools and spare parts
9. Trolley to carry everything except bikes

There seems to be five options at the price point:
Hyundai Kona
Vauxhall Mokka (similar to the Suzuki Cappuccino, but can be used after 11:00?)
DS 3 Crossback
Peugeot e-2008
Nissan Leaf
Another Renault Zoe.

Thoughts?

Update:

List is now:

Vauxhall Mokka
DS 3 Crossback
MG 4
Citroen e-Berlingo

Anyone seen a Leapmotor B05 yet? Reviews are a little mixed but quite interesting to see a traditional hatchback shape among the legions SUVs.

I've had the Tesla 3 Std RWD for a month and a half on the lease deal (since increased in cost slightly). It's an impressive car*, but not quite as clever as it thinks it is, and the UI is simply terrible, our i3 is so much better, and it has an unpleasant habit of emergency braking whilst on ACC.

*Actually the thing that impresses most is the Tesla integration, which also has a car attached. Economical though - 600 or so miles, mostly at 70mph on cruise was done with an average in excess of 4 miles/kwh.

We're now on out 5th pure EV, EX40 Recharge Twin Performance. 448BHP and 670NM. Mrs D has proclaimed it her favourite car ever, although she says that about most of the cars she has.

I prefer my van. After 2 years with the van every control in the EX feels sharp and hyper-immediate to me. Great if youre an enthusiastic driver, but not so good for loafing about like wotmI tend to do.

Bought outright. Barring the unforeeen its liable to outlast Mrs D's driving career, and if she has to quit through health (or should I say when) I already have the van anyway. That being the cast its probably the last 4 wheeled vehicle we'll ever buy or acquire.

I sold the XC70 last night, and drove it for the last time to just get the Romanian lads to blow the dust off before the viewing. It felt so old (I mean it was old, but YSWIM) and just, well, dull and 'unalive'. Driving EVs really is very different.

I was loaned an XC40 by the Northampton Volvo guys when I had mine in for a software summat a while back. It was my first experience of a touchscreen and my liking for them hasn't improved any. I thought the overall packaging was a bit tight - I'm assuming the EX is a lot better? (Mrs BF has a hankering for an EX 30 or 40)

The XC40 range has split into two- the ICE and hybrids are XC40, full electrics are EX40. The platform was designed from the off to accommodate either, so its not a compromise, but rhe basic structure is the same all round.

Agree re touchsdreens on any vehicle.

I find it not bad for space, it accommodates me well enough. We might all pile in for a short journey, dogs and all, and it manages fine but anything beyond half an hour with a full cabin we just ta,either van anyway. I guess it it werent for the stupid faux SUV thing (although her is at least full time AWD) it'd be a Golf sized hatch. The strangely black on black cabin looks a lot more claustrophobic than it really is.

Suspension is firm but not crashy. Steering feel isnt bad for an electric rack. Brakes are stupendous, is a touch lacking in feel.

Bloody thing goes like the clappers though. Its the first 11 second car we've ever owned, verging on superbike quick, and im glad its Mrs D paying for the tyres and not me at £300 a corner. Its all a bit frenetic and unnecessary for me, but its her car and she had to have ot because it looked nice in blue. Its probably a good thing they didnt have a blue Lada on the forecourt.

I ordered a Toyota Urban Cruiser that seems like decent enough value for money to me at £10,563.84 for 3 years / 30,000 miles.

It should be delivered "within a month" apparently, and the collection of the returning Zoe will be arranged for the same day.

I've got a strange hankering for the new Honda Super N 😱

I'm sure you'll all be laughing at it but there's just something about it I really like!
