Which Hybrid ?

Hi Folks,
First post, so go easy ! My wife bought me a Carrera crossfire 2 from halfolrds for my birthday which I did not really like, found it heavy and uncomfortable. Luckily Halfords took it back for a full refund so now I have the money in my pocket burning a hole !!
This will be my first bike since I was a kid (im 37 now) I don't really fancy a full road bike so hybrid would be best for me, I spotted the Trek 7.3FX disc for sale in Evans for £409 (reduced from 500 odd)and thought I couldnt go far wrong at that ? Most of my cycling will be back roads and mayby some gentle offroad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's last years bike so stock's going to be limited so don't hang around.

Make sure you get the correct size too & don't buy the wrong size just because they don't have it in your size!

Hybrids are great! Sounds like a cool ride for the price - I don't like the aesthetics of that bike but each to their own. Try to get to a local Evans (or other) shop to test that bike in a couple of sizes, like rusky says, you really do benefit from getting it right first time. Sure, you can tweak saddle position, handlebar reach etc (one always does), but if the frame feels too big or small, you will always notice it.
