At the moment, I rather like the Trent 1.2 as it has extra gears and I'm not too concerned about weight. Do you know of any other road bikes in the same price range which are considered better? Thanks a lot.

This might be a bit late in the day but have you considered Cube Peloton ?
Just been talking to a guy who bought a Peloton Pro 2013 on sale for £679 - it has full Tiagra & he likes it a lot.
German made/quite light/v.good spec & value.
Considering getting one myself on C2W scheme (2014 model).
