What is this '"Washing Up' to which you allude? The dishwasher doesn't worry if it soaks or not. (No, I'm not taking about MrsPete )

Milk in first, then if there's a bit too much I can slurp it out before pouring the tea in.

I use aluminium foil, so I can't comment on the refrigeration qualities of tin foil.
Sorry. I meant aluminium foil. Was there ever such a thing as tin foil ?

Milk in first when using a teabag in mug though?

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
What might be a problem with putting foil wrapped stuff in the fridge??? Please enlighten.

Milk in first was something the upper classes used to do in the Victorian age. Bone China was the thing to have in crockery and the very thin wall of a tea cup made from that was liable to crack if suddenly exposed to boiling water, hence the milk going in first to lower the temperature.

Not a lot of people know that.

Milk in tea first kills the water temperature so you don't get the full flavour of the tea IMO.........although i like it strong with just a splash of milk.
That's why I use a teapot. Tea gets the full heat from the kettle and brew, stews or mashes, but then a dash of milk into the bottom of the mug first. I've tried adding the milk afterwards and it's definitely not as good. If in need of tea when away from home and only teabags are available milk has to go in afterwards.

I never knew that there was any problem with putting tin, aluminium or titanium foil in the fridge, not that I do it often. Tupperware style containers work better and retain moisture.

Therefore, through a process of elimination, leaving the bowl full of wet and greasy crockery and utensils so that you have to remove it all just to get some clean hot water into the bowl or sink drives me nuts. You end up with wet, messy work surfaces everywhere. Pans often need to be soaked but they don't spill all the greasy water everywhere. Far better to keep the sink empty and ready. If stuff has dried up a little, use really hot water and leave it to soak in the bowl for approximately one mug of coffee.

Tea needs boiling water on first to properly release the flavour. Putting milk in first with a teabag is just soooo wrong.

I presumed it was only the French and Yanks that needed to be told that

Apparently not. Certain members of Cambridge Cycle Club fall into this category as well.

And here's another passion of his. Ryvita soaked in vinegar. They look like miniature Anderson Shelters on his plate.

Milk in first. Milk in last. Both the worst as it relates to tea. And tea is for losers. Smelly ugly losers. Smelly ugly northern losers.

I feel guilty for liking that. Like when you laugh at Frankie Boyle. I have nothing against Northerners. The brutality of the post made me laugh. I might unlike it to ease my conscience.
