Which is worse?

I have in the past cycled uphill into a headwind on my silver machine whilest listening to Hawkwind .
The headwind was definitely the most annoying.

Loops of Richmond Park are the worst for that - sometimes I swear there is a headwind the whole way round!

Conversely, if the wind is roughly in the NE it seems to follow you all the way round.

Headwinds are the worst for me, They knock 10 mph off your speed when they're in your face,but only put 3 or 4 mph on your speed when they're pushing you along. The rubbish off the road is also a big problem. Yesterday was recycling day around here. Plastic bottles and plastic wrapping blowing all over the place. An empty bin bag came flying across my path.
