Thinking about making an offer on one of these
Specialised Enduro Expert 2006
Kona 4 Supreme 2008

I know they are a bit older but that's cool. Just wondering which one is favourable/better generally and what'd be considered a fair price for each these days (assume condition is good)

Well they are not really the same kind of bikes so are a bit like orange and apple. The Spesh is a do-it-all 6 inch travel machine weighing over 15kg, while the Kona is a sub 12kg XC thoroughbred. Setting that aside, I would prefer the components on the Kona if they remain original, which are XT, Raceface, Fox F series front and RP23 rear, and it is also younger so likely easier to maintain. The Spesh has a mis-mash of Truvativ/sram bits that don't fill me with confidence.

I would expect both to be at around the £400 to £800 mark depending on condition. If you are not experienced you should be aware that shock service e.g. is not cheap. But you should decide whether you want an apple or orange first.

Thanks for the input

I'm just looking at the possibility of getting my first full-sus really (not including BSOs when I was a kid), I'm gonna swap to MTB so if I can get a bouncy one etc.

I'm looking for something that, yeh, can go for a wee blast over the flat nature reserve paths etc that litter my doorstep, but that can hold up on the trails that are just up the road.
I imagine I'd wanna start on blues and work up

I did prefer the "on paper" spec of the Kona, think the guy is after something in the 700 quid region
