Hi,

Just ordered a 'Revolution Country Traveller' from Edinburgh (£390 delivered) a few days ago, expecting it tomorrow, pretty excited I gota say! (my first tourer)

Would like a nice speedo but have read countless mixed reviews all over amazon for various models..wired or wireless? Cateye or Sigma? etc etc.

Ideally I want something under £20 that works all the time (wet, cold/hot etc.)
Don't care for cadence, but would like a thermometer but that's not essential.

If anyone can recommend me something they think may fit the bill that would be appreciated, Cheers Ry

I have had both types and I prefer the cheaper Sigma models. They have a bigger display, you have to reset each parameter one at a time unlike the Cateye Velo 8 which just wipes the lot. I also prefer the safer way it clicks into it's handlebar mount (I lost my Velo 8 it came unclipped on a dark commute). Also the low end Sigma computers allow you to put in an odometer reading of choice if required, something as far as I am aware cheap Cateye's do not do (well I could not find instructions anywhere). I have the Sigma Bc1009 used to have a Cateye Velo 8 until I lost it. These are both wired. I used to have a Cateye Velo wireless on my road bike, one day it decided to reset itself and loose all recorded data, it lost it's odometer reading and I was livid when I discovered that I could not re-enter the odometer reading that it had prior to the failure. For wireless for £20 you will probably have to go with a lesser known brand at a guess.

What I also found on more congested streets in Edinburgh, the engine management systems of modern cars also interfere with a cheap wireless computer; I could only imagine it'd be worse in London. I don't know when they'll have a bike sale on again but I found a cheap wired bikemate (<fiver iirc) was/is a good computer it incorporates a thermometer.

I thought you meant.........
