Hello,

This site definitely seems to be the place to ask about Ti!

I'm looking to buy a kind of "all round" style ti bike. Main use will be road, sportives, centuries. Looking for a comfortable ride that I can push quite hard in events etc.

But ideally it could also replace my winter bike which does see a bit of trails/cross bike territory - nothing major. But it will ideally be disc or at least have decent clearance. Probably want guard and rack mounts.

I don't have a massive amount to spend and am at the budget end of ti with no more that £2000. PX offers look alluring. I'm in Scotland and limited for actually seeing and riding bikes before buying unfortunately.

Spa Elan (or Sabbath AR1 but probably over budget). Spa are in Harrogate so not too far from Scotland (relatively, I went up from London) and are very amenable to test rides. They'll spec exactly as you want, I went for SRAM as prefer over Shimano on my AR1

They have some ex demos which offer more bang for buck albeit only a 52cm in the Elan

@ianrauk has a PX Ti

Several Elan owners, e.g. @Heltor Chasca and @Jenkins i think

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I really like the idea of, "One Bike to rule them all."

My list of possibles is further reduced by my preference of a horizontal top tube.

That 105 tripple at £1,450 looks a very good buy.

Another Elan owner here and it does seem to tick your boxes. I am pleased with mine.

Ages ago when I was looking at ti bikes with my penchant for a horizontal top tube the Enigma jobbies were nice :smile:

Definitely try a spa elan. I tested one last year and it is a really solid ride. In the end I went for their audax as I wanted to focus on something different from my thorn rohloff bike. The elan with big tyres and touring spec felt very much like the thorn. However, you could have a much sportier build if you wanted. The audax on offer is very good value.
