I've got a £50 budget & am pretty new to cycling. I need to get a short sleeved jersey, Long Sleeved Jersey & padded shorts in that budget. So far I have been eyeing up:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenn-Sprint...4?ie=UTF8&qid=1373387643&sr=8-4&keywords=tenn
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenn-Outdoo...F8&qid=1373724643&sr=8-3&keywords=tenn+shortshttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenn-Outdoo...=1373724730&sr=1-2&keywords=tenn+short+sleeve
I already have base layers as I play rugby.

I was also looking at clipless pedals & shoes on a budget of £50:eek: I was Looking at these:

Spend most of your budged on the padded shorts if you planning longish distances (Perth ) wear an ordinary t-shirt on top (will do for now) leave the purchase of long sleeves for when it gets colder.
Can't advise on the pedals and shoes, somebody more expert will come along shortly for sure.

Problem is, my pot of money doesn't get a top up till Christmas being younger and all. I need to plan ahead! My thinking is that the shirt would make me put in the initial miles to persuade the "bank of Mum & Dad," to buy me Dhb stuff. I'm still not sure whether I'll catch the bug so maybe for Christmas I will invest a bit more. Amazon shopping nearly convinces me to sell half my stuff on ebay to afford more stuff.:banghead:

Don't: you don't really need much to start cycling, apart from the bike.
Tbh, I don't think you even need the padded shorts for a 50 mile ride on road.
Get a basic cycle computer (less than a tenner) so you can show your parents and yourself how many miles/km you do.
Get some basic stuff like spare inner tubes, multi tool for the road, mini pump.
Once you have been cycling a bit, you will know what gear you really need ... then tap your Mum and Dad for it ^_^

padded shorts you can't go wrong with these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-aeron-cycling-short/

Keep on eye on them as they periodically drop the price, last two times I have bought them at £17.99 a pair and will do so again. If you can't wait I would be tempted by the bibs mentioned by mr messy as they are currently at the same price

Thanks guys, I'll sleep on it. Do blue bib shorts go with blue top, or Black shorts with blue top?

Bibs are more comfortable as they don't cut off circulation around the waist.
The Aerons are great value just now, not the thickest pad but will get you going without falling apart. I use them for commuting.
Colour matching....whatever tickles your fancy! ;)
