I bought myself a bottle of Jura Superstition for New Year, had a try of it tonight. Very, very good.

Well, having read the last thread I decided to break a quarter century of personal beliefs and placed (lovingly and carefully) a brace of small ice cubes in my Highland Park. (It was the last bit in the old bottle, so had the new one to fall back on if it was ruined.) I listened to the ice crackle as it bobbed up and down in the amber liquid, I observed the oily-looking streams of melting water drifting away from the cubes, and felt the glass cool down to what was probably room temperature in a black hut in December. I sipped, I swirled, I chewed and I tasted............ and guess what?

It was fantastic. By the last few dregs in the glass it had warmed back up to how I expected it to taste. In fact it was so much of an epiphany I have decided to nip over to Worsley to give the bottle of Bells I won in a raffle to brokenflipflop's binmen as a tip.

If you can find it then I would recommend The Edradour.

Tesco still have some offers on Whiskies! Glenlevit at £20. Highland Park £20 Old Pultney at £20? That keeps changing price every time I go in!! Jura £20, I'm not a big fan of Jura it's a wee bit smokey in flavour, although there's a nice after taste with it. One of my favourites is TullaMore Dew the Irish Whiskey, it's a very mellow taste and boy oh boy does it go down easy. Like Bushmells and for the money I'd highly recommend the 12, YO Glenmarnoch from ALDI it's a really top notch whisky.

Happy New Year - Have large Dram to see the new year in.
