Are we allowed blends?

I always love a Chivas

As a 'stock' drink, Cragganmore.
Bowmore 'Mariner' is always a favourite, but I like Laphroaig too - don't mind really... cask strength stuff with a drop of water is flavoursome.
Last month's ride to the Brighton coast 'demanded' that Talisker be taken with 'full English'!

Yamazaki isn't bad at all.

I like the standard Laphroaig as a basic, or moving up a notch, the Bowmore 17 year-old (thanks to my friend Mike for introducing me to that one). But my absolute favourite is Ardbeg Uigeadail... if you can find some, get it. What an amazing whisky that is - head and shoulders above anything I have ever tasted.

I like a whisky but I'm not a whisky snob either.

I'm currently enjoying a well deserved whisky & orange with Lidl's cheapest "Hunters Glen" - not that nice a whisky but fine as a mixer and not too bad to make a strong mixer. I don't know why people buy crap like Balls*, White & Mackay etc when they are no better than the discount supermarket cheapies.

What IS quite nice is (cheap)whisky with banana soya milk, or chocolate soya milk...dunno how it would work with dairy milk

I'd never mix a single malt with anything....that is sacriligeous

Two of my favourites are

http://www.royalmile...d=0010000031294 (seemingly now all gone...that is a shame)
and a blended that I prefer over many £20-£50 single malts...

Yes, I do like my smoky, peaty whiskies

Not a fan of peaty whiskies then try the different and quite unique flavour of anCnoc http://www.ancnoc.com/

Smokehead extra rare Islay

Think I'll be joining you!

Smokehead is my favourite of the moment...however, a McCallan, or a Laphroaig are not to be sniffed at either...or should that be are to be sniffed!

Oh now THAT sounds fantastic....in more ways than one. It sounds like my sort of tipple, and the lovely little "wee dram" in Bakewell stocks it. So this weekend's ride out is sorted...a saunter to Bakewell with some bubble wrap to protect my purchase in my panniers should I fall off (though to shorten the odds of my falling off I shall wait until home before sampling!!)

To avoid any spelling difficulties the Islay malts are commonly referred to as TCP.
Come to think of it, they taste of TCP too.

Other fine malts are available.

Caol Ila 18 yo is my favourite. I also currently own a Laphroaig quarter cask which is delicious. At the weekend I tasted a Caol Ila 21yo cask strength but it just tasted of pain and not much else!

I'm hearing you about smokehead and ardbeg (I thought smokehead WAS ardbeg under another label) but they are all smoke and not enough depth for my taste....

I like Oban. I'm not a fan of things like Dalwhinnie, it's bland. As regards Islays, I like most of them but Laphroaig is just too phenolic for my taste.

In general. I'm a Highlands and Islands fan.
