Black Bush from good ol Norn Iron is simply great. I have a bottle of Bushmills Millenium Malt distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2000 from a private cask. It has become an heirloom, never to be opened and valued at around £120. Dont call round for a snifter because you wont get one!!!

Lagavulin is the true nectar of the gods, with Talisker a close second. Glenkinichee is my standby when wanting something a little lighter, and Cragganmore, Oban and Black Bush are occasional dalliances.

In the interest of your good health and wellbeing I am happy to volounteer as taster/tester for the old (and probably ruined due to its age) 22 year old malt........ If you would care to send it to me I will be happy to test it and let you know how my health is affected, however, in the interests of science and to achieve a meaningful result I might have to do several tastings...... this may mean that there would be insufficent remaining to return to you.

I realise that I am being totally selfless and altruistic by making this kind and generous offer - but hey - that's the kind of guy I am !

This little experiment will, of course, need peer-review....

Do you take it with ice-caps?

Caol Ila 18 yo is my favourite. I also currently own a Laphroaig quarter cask which is delicious. At the weekend I tasted a Caol Ila 21yo cask strength but it just tasted of pain and not much else!

I'm hearing you about smokehead and ardbeg (I thought smokehead WAS ardbeg under another label) but they are all smoke and not enough depth for my taste....

There's posh now.
