Me and friend were waiting patiently at a red light in the pissing rain yesterday

Large White van pulls up next to us.

Window comes down

Driver shouts

"don't envy you guys in this weather. Good effort.

Enjoy your ride and have a merry Christmas"

A few more pleasantries shared, lights went green and we head off on our journeys contented :-)

We too often hear about confrontation between cyclists and motorists. But there you go, proof not all drivers are the same :-)

Tonight, on my way home southbound on the A20 near Catford Bus Garage, a white van driver did this...

He was in the right hand lane of the dual carriageway, with me pootling along at about 20mph on the inside lane, when a car in front of him stopped to turn right. He indicated to turn left, pulled in slightly... And stopped, having used his mirrors, to let me through first.

He didn't have to, because he had ample time to nip into the lane without endangering me, but he saw me in the mirror and decided not to take any chances.

So, Mr. Unknown White Van Man; a big thumbs up and a thank you for a good, safe piece of driving this evening.
