Who buys singles anymore?

I have just been surfing round itunes as I got a couple of vouchers for my birthday and i got to thinking, the charts are still going strong even if its mostly full of rubbish (yes I'm getting old) but I went into HMV the other day and don't think I saw a single anywhere. I remember when I was at the Oasis buying age you could go into Our Price and they would have a big wall of the top 20 singles, now i don't see any. Is this just because I am a tight arse now and only look for the value for money albums where as when i was a skint teenager all I could afford was a single or do they just not make them anymore and rely on downloads?

 I buy singles occasionally from HMV's website. I've haven't seen any in shops for quite a few years, but then I haven't looked.

I don't really buy CDs of any type now, it's mostly downloads for me.

Haven't singles generally been replaced by EPs now? Same song, several mixes kind of thing

Its a sad state of affairs, the single (vinyl obviously ) has all but disappeared from the high street. You can order them from specialist shops, but often the price is great than the album, which would've come out weeks before any of the singles anyway! I've resisted downloads, not really sure of the benefit of them. Cost the same as a CD and you get "virtual" music. Think I'll stick to my shiny little discs!

i bought a CD single last month (Katie melua-the flood) but i mostly wait 20 years and buy the album on line for peanuts, Johnny hates jazz anyone ???

but your right, dont see the singles in the shops anymore, but then Rugby doesn't even have a true music shop anymore

HMV / amazon website is good for CD albums, bought loads for the kids

There are a few specialist shops here in Norwich that specialize in Vinyl, but MP3/AAC etc appears to have become mainstream. Worth noting is that bands such as "Pendulum" release special editions of their album releases that include a vinyl copy too.
