So I'm cycling along the main road on a bit of a utility ride, and get stopped by a red light at a large 4 way junction. Lots of traffic, so I filter up to the front and sit there a while.

Suddenly, a guy on a road bike, wearing Hi-Vis, probably in his 40's - so should have known better - comes cruising up the road the wrong way on my side of the road and through the junction. I say to him as he passes me (on the wrong side of the road), in an entirely calm and non-confrontational way:

"You know you're supposed to go on the left side of the road, right?" Now, he apparently didn't like this, as he stopped, and proceeded to bellow "WHO?! ME?!", to which I simply and calmly respond "Yes" to which he responded "WHY?!"

Well, I thought, you can't argue with this kind of stupid - And at this moment my red light turned green, and I passed through the junction responding "Because it's the law."

What a nutter!

sadly it's the way of most interactions on the road these days. People go on the defensive as a reflex rather than think and reflect on the situation. I despair at the amount of aggression displayed on the road, and the attitude that "I am right, and f*** you if you don't see it that way"

Well done for pointing it out to him, as there is a small chance he has one neurone that will fire eventually, and reflect on why you chose to speak to him.......but then again, maybe that neurone turned off the lights as it left.
