I bet she already has and the ones on display are fakes.

Also if they are real I bet she'd take them with her if we ever get organised and throw her out. She'd likely go and Queen in some commonwealth country I reckon.

Nooo... getting rid of Queenie would be like getting rid of Blackpool Tower. They might be old and expensive to maintain, and to some, frightfully unsightly, but they have their place as iconic tourist attractions.

I own my own crown jewels thank you very much.

People still go and see the great wall of China and they're a republic. We can keep the buildings and in fact open them up for tourism even more if we kick the squatters out.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Technically, I think they belong to the queen as a lot of them were aquired by kings and queens since 1649, when cromwell got rid of the medieval jewles. The duke of Edinburgh was asked this question a number of years ago, and he said the queen owns them and I dont think anyone has ever disputed that fact. Whether she could actually sell them is another matter though.

If the DOE has pronounced on the subject, that is that. @User, you are stood down, sorry to have troubled you

As far as I know, no one contradicted him. That doesn't necessarily mean anything as anyone knows the duke of Edinburgh often puts his foot in it big time. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer as to who actually owns the crown jewels however. Different people will say different things. I don't think anyone knows for sure accept the queen and the government maybe.
