I read something recently about this car (was it on here?).
Early 1970s one of the lads in the factory were i worked owned one. It was a lovely shiny red and looked like it would do 0-60 in 3 seconds.
No idea how he afforded it, i owned a rusty old mini 750cc.

My Dad had one. Nippy for the day, but really not all that. It was a bit of a sticker special to cash in on Fords Mexico rally win, with a mildy tuned 1600 rather than a full on performance model like the earlier twin cam which had the BDx engines and later RS with a proper 2 litre.

Of all the "performance" mk1's it was the one with the least of that attribute. All chestwig, little in the way of bicep.

Both about the same

Mk 2 was slightly heavier but had a bit more power, they never floated my boat.

Owned 5 mark 1 Mexico's from bog standard ones to full blown road rally variations all were good fun to own and drive .

Even had a later Mark 2 for a short while before swapping it for a Mark 2 Rs2000

I can remeber doing a treasure hunt in one of my rally spec mark 1 Mexico's and it used a full tank of fuel in less than 100 miles probaly not helped by my heavy right foot , but boy we had fun in them

My father used to get a lift to work in his mate's. He wasn't impressed with how uncomfortable the rock hard suspension was, riding in the back.
