Rainbow was usually on TV when we were home from school at lunchtime.

I don't remember Mrs. Pogle's voice and I have no idea who Clarrie Grundy is.

Clarrie Grundy is the long suffering wife of Eddy Grundy, in the
Swift googling tells me Mrs Pogle was in fact voiced by Olwen Griffiths, who also did voices in Ivor the Engine and Torchy (both Postgate creations). As far as I know she never ventured as far as Borsetshire.

I have never ever listened to The Archers (although my parents did).

My parents listen to it, so I have got to know who she is over the years.
I knew who it was, don't worry, it wasn't lost on us all.
It isn't something I would normally listen to myself, but I have nothing against and can't understand why it provokes such a reaction described above.

That was one of the first things i saw on colour tv. My friend's mum and dad bought a colour telly in 1969. They had the colour so high everybody was bright orange. If i remember rightly two people used to touch two ring halves together and the genie would appear.
