The ABD is the Taxpayers Alliance of the roads. A small bunch of nobbers who claim to represent a huge body of people. I'm both a taxpayer and a motorist, and these people do not speak for me.

... talking of "nut job creationists", I see that Sammy Wilson, MP for East Antrim, is also a patron of the Alliance of British Drivers.

If you haven't heard of Mr Wilson, he is a "young earth creationist" who has objected to things like evolution being mentioned in museums, and geological explanations for the formation of the Giants Causeway.

I'm a professional Geologist...bring it on!!!!

This is the group that claimed marked Police Cars in Manchester policing the orads were a safety hazard as drivers were "forced to divert their attention from the road to looking for Police cars!

just watched it on iplayer found the whole article very interesting (did you see the parking for bikes in The Netherlands:ohmy:) and yes he does seem to a be a nobber..... The problem with "his people should get off bikes" comments are in my limited experience of London public transport complete rubbish (trains out to suburbs, tubes and buses etc) it is already over crowded... A train I was on from London to Sutton stopped at a station and the driver refused to move until the people who had just got on an already full train got off, I think a guard had to come and remove people and if people started driving into work instead of cycling in London.... his precious members would be stuck in even more traffic so he ought to be careful what he wishes for!!!! even I can get stuck in traffic when using my car in dull old Burton on Trent... my homeward 5.30pm commute takes about 20 mins in a car but only 30mins on a bike!

I always thought "thank fark I don't live in London". After watching that it looks like it's heading the right way.

up here we're just told to be nice.

"You don't get that from motorists who are much better behaved generally".

Pulled out of works car park - Golf doing 40+ in 30 tailgates at 10 feet, even past neon sign.
Next roundabout - Fiesta floors it on exit to tailgate into 60mph zone and beyond.
Next straight - 2 cars racing each other at 90mph+
Next roundabout - 4WD begins tailgating. Phone user drives other way.
Next straight - phone user drives other way. Watch car in front tailgate at 6 feet.

That's the first 3 miles of my drive home coming out of Barnsley.
Roger Lawson needs to take off his rose tinted glasses.

The fark is it with the BBC and having to present 'balance' by whenever they have a discussion about any issue getting some nutjob in to represent an opposing view?

Next time they get someone in to interview for their big round the world charity attempt, I'm going to demand to go on as a representative of the Flat Earth Society and argue that their charity attempt is doomed to fail. And I shall demand that my arguments be given equal credence.
