Whoop whoop New Job!!!

I've been reasonably happy in my current job.... Certain aspects irritate i.e working every Saturday... not overtime just a week day off every fortnight (5 1/2 day week) and other bits and bobs... but 2 x 8 mile bike rides each side of day almost made up for it....

But I still get all the emails from various agencies from when I got my current job five years ago and I still flicked through them and dismissed them all as exactly the same job just further away and same cash so why bother..... However a role came up a week or so ago that stopped me in my tracks, something amazing...and I thought 'Flipping eck.....could I get that......?' and after an interview, verbal offer next day and a morning in the office there... Firm offer and resignation gone in...

Cant say too much, similar (but different) work to what I do now (car parts) and still in sales, but office based rather than shop/trade counter based and Monday to Friday and a Christmas shut down.... Don't think I've had either of those luxuries since I got into retail 25 years ago.. and salary is a nice chunk more... current boss couldn't even offer half as much pay rise (and other issues still there even after a pay rise) If I hadn't seen this job I would have still worked here for the foreseeable future......

And its 10 miles from my house and they were impressed I cycled to work and said they were happy for me to continue to do so.... will have to rethink winter commuting as its a rural location...

Sorry for the gloat but feeling pretty smug right now.... (with a slight feeling of apprehension obviously) counting down the days of a 4 week notice......

Don't worry its nowhere near your area so I wont be sitting next to you..... but I could possibly guess where you work then.....
having you sitting next to me would'nt be an issue

just enjoy it , i made the change from a dealership to current role 10+ years ago for similar reasons

the phones get to you after a while but hey it pays the bills

Cycle to work scheme?

Bike shop across the road suggested that... but to be honest I don't think they do it... so not going to rock the boat....Shop said they will give me a good deal.... aiming round about the 1 to 1.5 k so thinking carbon Defy or Propel (mainly a Giant dealer) ...both will be far more capable than the owner
