Let me add a bit more to this cyclist, i got footage of him doing countless things that are potentially dangerous, changing lanes without looking, minimal sholder checks and weaving between cyclists. Just after that incident he takes a right turn to go down a one way street the wrong way.

As most have said. The car driver is at fault as he shouldn't have pulled out (when he started to indicate and was ready to go, a pedestrian walked into his path. I can only presume that he didn't do another sholder check to look for the cyclist.) but the cyclist could have ridden more defensively to avoid the incident.
thats my view anyway

My view is that the car should have waited but it was obviously pulling out, the cyclist had time to ring his bell a few times (futile gesture IMHO) so knew what was happening but carried on regardless.

I would call it 50/50 but wouldnt give the cyclist much chance of living to a ripe old age if he continues riding so stupidly.

I was going to comment on this earlier. I too wondered if the pedestrian took the driver's attention and, once the pedestrian had passed, the driver forgot to check again. Doesn't excuse pulling out, but could be a factor.

Anyway, as has been said by most here, driver stupid to pull out, cyclist stupid not to foresee this and take better avoiding action.

Have to agree with Theclaud though: his positioning if he's taking a right turn further on is probably where I'd be, and pulling other d1ckhead stunts either side of this interaction are neither here nor there. Apart from establishing that he rides like a bit of a wally sometimes.

From that video I would say there's been a lack of restraint on the part of both parties with diminished rearward spacial awareness from the driver. The cyclist was there to be seen but the rider appears to have lacked anticipation.

Evidence of vehiclular behaviour immediately prior to a collision can assist in determining a drivers / riders mindset prior to an impact. The sneaking through the inside of the taxi suggests the cyclist is a risk taker, the kicking out looked like a temper attack.

Nevertheless, 75% car driver 25% cyclist.

Cyclists fault, you can see the car indicate 3 seconds before the cyclist kicked the side of the car. Car indicates left to pull out, cyclist has a quick check over the left shoulder sees that there is room there (which there was as the taxi was in a different lane) and moves over - it's not hard and does not warrant lashing out like the cyclist did.[/quote]+1
I am amazed that people can condone this prick kicking someones car. He had plenty of time to react and chose to make a drama out of the situation.

beg to differ. There are no cars screaming anywhere in that clip.

Eh? I think you're a bit confused. I wasn't claiming that there were.

I was merely explaining why I position myself over on the right on that bit of road - the reason being that (from experience, having cycled through there 100s of times) it is not particularly sensible to cut across four lanes of one-way traffic further down the road to make a right turn.

(The cyclist is still a bit of a chump though, for lack of anticipation, failure to take avoiding action, and the kick.)

The car driver is at fault in my view, while indicating his intention to move from his parking position, should have waited until there was a clear space to move into. It looks like a one way street, and the cyclist is probably selecting the correct lane for his journey, it's not a motorway or a dual carriage way.

Don’t think either party come out of that one smelling of roses…

A bar end mirror might have helped him be a bit more aware of the space around him – I couldn’t cycle round town without one
