No doubt future generations will suffer, just as we are victims of something or other of those that went before us. You can do small things to change, we all do...but none of it will REALLY make any immediate difference. The big changes will come from scientists, governments etc. That will be driven partly by public demand no doubt, but in the mean time, until an long term viable, economic option is available, i'm afraid we're (the human race as a whole) stuck with carbon fuels.
Tell you what, to satify everyone, i won't fill the tank, walk to work, lose my job, live on the dole, not pay tax (christ, then you'd all moan) live in a cave etc etc.
Don't get me wrong, your sentiments are spot on, they just don't fit reality for a lot of people.
