The incident happens at 2.22 if you want to find it quickly.
Did the driver not stop?
After the accident it was quite strange. If you had not seen what happened you would have thought they had just got off for a chat.

Apparently, judging by the comments, the police used their video to track down the guy who hit them, and the police ended up charging him with felony drug and weapons charges as well as the dangerous driving charge. A case of US police actually doing something positive for cyclists. Normally, the police would have 'accidentally' failed to recognize the license plate, therefore letting the driver get away with it, then they would have cited the cyclists with the two stop sign violations and the right turn only lane violation.

When cyclists ride that poorly, they probably get used to being knocked off their bikes. Not defending the driver, but it has to be said. This kind of 'rules don't apply to me' cycling gives us all a bad name. And I notice the comments from the motorists don't miss the cyclists' law violations - they're all over them, as if they excuse what the driver did.

Erm, Wasn't really a "close pass" though was it. Looked a tad more deliberate to me, just wondering if there may more "background" to this than the video suggests ?

Strange title to this thread. It wasn't a close pass.

It was extremely poor driving. I'm glad the riders are OK.

I hope the chap in front has a good look at the video and notices how little he looks to the side or rear.

Also, do STOP signs not apply to cyclists in the US? I've driven there many times, but never cycled. I know there are some eccentric rules, which may explain why both riders sailed over a STOP at 1.20.

Nonetheless, the driving was dreadful with a capital D and maybe some other upper case letters too.

There was indeed some rather poor cycling.. very little indicators, guy in front rarely looking behind him, cycling in the door zone, blowing through stop signs (cyclists do have to stop at this in the US).

Has nothing to do with the incident at hand, but why show your self cycling like a tool?
