when they never seem to use them!!

on my commute home tonight there were about 6 people either turning left in front of me, or wanting to turn right but because they don't use there indicators i have no way of telling what they are doing!!

sorry for the rant lol anyone else having this problem atm or is it just me??

I was once given the advice that the only thing a flashing indicator means is that the car has electrics!

You are far better off watching the vehicle, approach and wheel angles... given how many drivers either don't signal or signal wrongly this is far more reliable than indicators

That is my number one pet peeve - I've ended up on (and breaking) the windscreen of a car with a sprained ankle and dodgy knee, all because mrs moton couldn't be bothered to indicate. serves her right.

<rant over>

It does amaze me, the amount of high-spec cars I see on the road, air con, electric everything, and yet so many of the owners seem to leave out speccing the indicator option.
On a similar note, does anybody else find modern car design (approx the last decade) has made a bit of a backwards step in regards to indicators? Personally I find LED type indicators, great as they are at night, far easier to miss in daylight than the older bulb with orange lens type. And a lot of cars now have the indicators more inboard as opposed to on the very corner of the car, again making them more difficult to see from certain angles.

normally depends on what cars there from tbh, i do find it hard to see BMW cars indicators during the day but the new seats ave very easy to see indicators.

glad someone posted this topic! Almost hit a left-hooking car today, yelled at him (out of oh £$&*" I'm going to hit rather than anything else). He came from behind and turned left, without indicating. I was aware that he was there, then I was aware he was moving - "he can't be turning, surely" - then straight across my path!!! TBH I think it was a "SMIDSY" (aka SMIDBL) despite his having to have come past me at some point (this was not blind spot territory) with me in high viz reflective yellow, the sun not yet properly set, my rear SMART 1/2 watt light, and my headmounted AyUps!

His passenger definitely did see me fairly close up with my helmet mounted AyUps yelling... as I managed to stop centimetres from her door!

BMW's with an "i" suffix means they have chosen the indicator option. They just don't know how to use them...

The worst, IMO, was the Golf about 5 years ago, which had the grand idea of putting the indicators inside the circle of red brake lights, like this. It might look a little bit Ferrari but it made it almost impossible to see whether the indicator was flashing.

It seemed to take about 12 months before anyone who drives a Golf actually used their indicators and noticed that this was a bad thing, they now have the indicators in the outside of the circle like this.

yh its annoying when indicators are that small, when braking and indicating its impossible to see the indicators!
