Why do I trust my kitchen?

When charging things up for the bike I always seem to opt for doing it in the kitchen. I don't know why but it always feels like the safest place to do it.

Is this me just being a bit OCD or do others find they do the same sort of thing?

It's probably one of the few rooms in your house that has electrical sockets at worktop height. It makes absolute sense. It drives Lady Slomo bonkers.

Does the tiled floor make it easier to clean up oil & grease spills than the living room carpet?

Ha! I managed to get lard stains on the kitchen ceiling, the cupboards, and the floor and the worktops when my lard/water mix superheated and flash boiled. It would have been easier to re-carpet the living room than to degrease the kitchen floor.

My kitchen has a bike pantry built in (not sure whether the architect had this specifically in mind but it's big enough for two and too warm as a cold store for food) so the bike gets part ready in the kitchen and gets finished off in the hall when I'm finishing off dressing myself up. Actually, the finishing off often starts once I'm outside the flat and I go back to pick up what I've forgotten.

I can't help feeling oiling your chain with an oily rag would have been wiser than boiling up a superheated lard concoction for the purpose

It was a catastrophic failure in the making of hot water pastry.

I've abandoned oiling chains since I acquired a bike with belt drive. This means that it's tolerated in the carpeted living room because it doesn't drip.

This is me too, our utility room is my indoor bike store, the kitchen is my dressing room, workshop, charging point and its radiator is my source of warm clothing on a cold morning.

Garage wouldn't be a bad idea but I'm a little bit odd. A lot will find this strange but I keep my car in the garage. Wouldn't want anything burning in there.

:stop:

You've got things all wrong.

A garage is where you keep all sorts of worthless rubbish while your car which is potentially worth many thousands sits outside at the mercy of the elements.:okay:
