Just for clarification, I wasn't trying to imply with my response that you were a total idiot.
Yes you were. (I'm here all week, folks!)

...why, when workmen have to start working early in a residential area slam their van doors and have the radios up loud, but by 8.30 they turn their internal volume (and radio, usually on radio 1) down?

Get yourself one of them mini FM transmitters. You can use'em to 'jam' stations and your builders will be forced to listen to whatever kind messages or songs from musicals you choose to broadcast to them. Great fun, erm...apparently.
(I have one permanently blocking Radio 1 just for the hell of it).

As for the why do people thing ...I have another supermarket one- why do people rarely use the little plastic barrier thing at the checkout when they finish putting their stuff on the conveyor belt- they always expect you to do it so you end up doing it twice. Sigh...mutter...grumble....

I know what I am, so I simply assume a position of the lowest common denominator!

Slaughtering? What a WASTE!!

I'd happily do something else instead to them!!
You don't have a bike?
I have three, but I tend not to mention it as there are some people round here who boast of owning three bikes, when really it's just very normal.
It's the riding bit I'm having trouble with right now.

I thought that was the point. It's like saying you're a cyclist but never actually going out on your bike.

Actually, I've just spotted the problem with my argument

So, the people that are going to church every Sunday are good Christians, but the people that live their lives according to Christian values and don't go to church are bad ones..
Forgive me, but the only hypocrite I can see here is you!

It's those who only choose to attend church on Christmas eve to sing some carols, scoff mince pies, and take it as a social event that I really have a problem with.

Hypocracy is what I do, just like everyone else. ^_^
