The problem with forums (and texting, emails, messenger etc) is that as there is no tone and posters tend to presume a lot will be understood much gets misunderstood and offence is taken.

I should add to my previous post, montage, that I invite you to think of how the mechanisms in the links I posted could apply to both yourself and others! We all project, including you, me and everyone else! 'tis a fact!

Nothing in psychology is 'fact' dont they teach you that on your first day?

Didnt Freud champion projection? didn't he also suggest that every young man wants to kill his dad and have sex with his mum? ;)

Yes, strictly speaking it isn't a fact, but if you don't project, then you are weird

And yes, Freud did say something a little like that, but it isn't entirely related to projection!

Not read those yet - I'll have a look at them tomorrow (going to bed soon), but how do you mean project? I don't like to trouble people with problems I have, and very rarely talk about problems, even big ones. I'm not an overly talkative person unless I am with people I know either, but I'm certainly not shy - does this mean I don't project?

No, it means you have a deep seeded love of man bits!

I have a degree in psychology, not just a few pissed up terms.... three pissed up years of it!

No, it could mean that you are a guarded person.

Projection is different. There are various kinds and they all occur subconsciously. One typical kind occurs when there is an aspect of a person's personality that they find unacceptable (for whatever reason) and which is therefore suppressed (out of conscious awareness). The person may then subconsciously attribute that personality trait to another person or other people, regardless of whether or not that person or those people actually have that particular trait.

ah, like attention seeking. Easy to spot an attention seeker if you used to be an attention seeker in your previous life.

Having read the thread in question, I agree with the sentiments of the people you think are these horrible moralists, but just not the manner of all the responses. But then you didn't help with the first response you gave, now did you?
