If you're a commuter and it rains you may still have to cycle.
If you have errands to run and your bike is your transport you may have to cycle.
But if you cycle for fun, why would you still go in the rain???
Surely it's not much fun?? Am I missing something?
I've seen quite a few cyclists this morning - couple on mtb's heading out along the river, which is going to be awful in this weather because the ground turns to a bog, and a pair I see regularly on road bikes.
Personally I'd rather wait until it's dry to set off if I don't actually have to go out.

Time limited and it's rare it rains all day and.....it's just rain.

I quite like going out in the rain. It can be refeshing. I won't go if it's really heavy but light rain is lovely.

For mountain biking, it IS fun, potentially even MORE fun in the rain. That said, the clean up afterwards isn't, so I tend to avoid going out on the mountain bike in the rain purely for that!

Road biking, if I go out in the rain it's for the fitness benefits. I have no turbo trainer, and to be honest would be bored with one. I'd rather just get wet and go out. There are limits though!

I find it difficult to motivate myself to start a ride in the rain, but will do it on forum rides, audax rides and sportives.

It is much easier going out on a day where rain is not forecast until much later in the ride. I'll do that and put up with the rain. It's usually not too bad as long as you are dressed for it.

I have done a few rides where the weather turned ridiculously nasty and I chose to cut them short. When the rain is so intense and cold that the roads start flooding and hypothermia becomes a real possibility then there is no joy in it, and I adopt the motto 'discretion is the better part of valour', go home, and live to ride another day!
