There's rain and then there's rain!

Moderate rain at 15 deg C on a still day isn't a problem. Heavy rain at 1 deg C in strong winds is potentially a very serious problem, especially if you have a puncture 1,500 ft up on a moor somewhere, miles from help or shelter.

I won't in general set off in the rain if it is forecast to be set in for the day, otherwise just carry a jacket. Rain is easier than wind.

Actually getting out the door when it is raining is the hardest part. If I'm out and it starts raining, it usually doesn't bother me. It can be refreshing. But when you look out the window and the rain is coming down, I find it really difficult to get my arse in gear and get out. Think it's some kind of psychological thing

There is rain and there is rain. If its a light drizzle I will go out, especially in the summer. If its pelting down like stair-rods, I leave it a while to see if it clears up.
If I am out on a ride and it pours with rain, I don't necessarily head straight for home, I'll continue with my planned route. I have no problem going out for a ride when the weather people have forecast showers. I figure that I'll get damp and then dry off in the sunny intervals.

In the winter, I avoid the rain when possible though. I cannot see the point in getting cold and wet when I don't have to. If its really cold and it rains, I might just head for home

Because you've signed up to the CC century a month challenge, it's the last weekend in December and it's hacking it down.

Because you have a 'cross race. You are hardy but have relatively puny legs, you suspect only a handful are going to start and you want the league points.

You are touring with a tent. I'll stay in the tent, you think, it's hacking it down. Five minutes later you realize it's going to be very boring.

It's not raining much, you've only got a four-hour slot to get a ride in.
