Why do you cycle in the rain??

Normally, I hate the idea if going out in the rain, but have never gone out in it and not enjoyed it enormously. it's just a case of forcing yourself out of the dry. Just make sure you stay warm, then wet doesn't matter.

It's the wind that's bad, not the rain.

I Don't mind the rain I will go out if it's light rain but if it's a down pour then I will pass but if I'm already out and there is a down pour I stay out

I don't mind riding in the rain. It usually doesn't rain for long and if you have the right gear and you are not cold then it's OK. However if it incessant cold rain then, that's not so enjoyable.
This really. In fact I seem to ride better in the rain than I do in warm sunny weather.

I cycle in the rain because we live in a wonderful world, with all these great things to experience.
As someone from Texas said to me last week, 'we don't get rain where I'm from, I just love to watch it. You're so lucky here!'.

I find I climb hills much better in the rain as my problem on hills is overheating. Also you get to a stage where you can't get any wetter and as long as the clothing you are wearing is warm then it stops being a hardship and just becomes a part of the ride

I too struggle to get myself out the door in heavy rain, but once I'm riding it doesn't bother me.

I think after the FNRttC Morecambe ride my definition of 'rain' has been reset anyway.

WTH is the issue here? I mean, why should I be put off by some water? It's like I'm going to get wet anyway! Rain being a problem to mean I'll not ride?..

There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

Being too cold or cycling into a strong headwind are far more discomforting than rain - skin's waterproof after all.

For mountain biking, very wet conditions are a bonus, as it stops the mud sticking to your bike.

I thought you'd be hardened to the rain living in Cumbria, Sandra.:rain::rain:

More likely to be softened, no?

It's been relentlessly sunny:sun::heat: this summer so I have had no rain to cycle in. Now I am back in the UK for a while, I am prepared for the worst:cold::rain: .

When I commuted, only thick lying snow stopped me but for leisure rides I have to spur myself to face the rain. Once I am out there I am perfectly happy.
