Why is a Triban 3 suitable only for "up to 45 miles"?

I just rode my bike up the road 10 miles and the brakes just came on on there own.

Did the Etape Caledonia on Sunday (81 miles) on my 3a. What a load of pish. In fact, did 1000 miles total (review here) on the bike with stock components before having to do any replacements.

I think it's not a bad estimate. It's not for pottering down to the shops and it's not designed for LEJoG. So they pick a round number in the vicinity of the maximum distance that most riders will do: 100km.

yeh but 46 miles is not 100km... its closer to 75km (of the top of my head)

for the record, I had a Triban 3 and was quite happy doing upto 85 miles (138km) a day on it (after new wheels).

I've happily done half a dozen 100KMs+ on my folding bike, including the Dunwich Dynamo. But I wouldn't argue with someone who said it wasn't best suited for that distance.

apologies if it came over that I was arguing. I had tried to keep a line between one sentence and then next statement which had not been at you, more the concept that I previously had one of those bikes and it was fine for more than the mileage Decathlon were suggesting.

So does this mean there are hundreds of Triban 3 owners getting stranded out in the countryside because their bikes refuse to tick past 45 miles in one sitting?

I wonder what the reset period is? Assuming they can go again at all? Should have bought the Triban 5, it can go two further perhaps?
