That Robbie Williams! You know he's from the Potteries, or the English midlands right? Well how come he sings like he's from South Carolina? Why the over-the-top American accent when you're from Staffordshire, oh-pretentious one?
Didn't seem to bother him in "Bark at the Moan"Ozzy (praise his name) Osbourne was once asked about his 'mid-atlantic' accent, his reply was 'can you imagine me singing finished with my woman coz she couldn't help me with my life' in a Brummie accent.
Also, in the film, The Commitments... they were advised not to sing in their own accents either... 'it's ride Sally ride, not riot Sally riot!'
Or stick with The Proclamers and The Beautiful SouthLets face it many British singers whether it is Elton John, The Rolling Stoners or Cliff Richard sing in an American accent. It makes sense because the USA was always seen as the market to crack.
That's the one! I was going to mention her but couldn't for the life of me remember her name, thank youDidn't whatsername hippy girl from Devon, (Joss Stone, that's her) also got caned for a speaking/singing with a faux Yanky accent.
