Quite. But how to persuade people that they appear to be the termination of a bell I they use one in an urban environment?

Renault have increased the range of their Zoe to over 100 miles now by using a more powerful battery. That could be an option. The Nissan Leaf is also to be considered but they are still a long way from the Tesla. Unfortunately, that one is still far too expensive for most people, including me.

Oslo city council have been considering a total ban on diesel vehicles. It wouldn't surprise me if they start doing it this winter.

I have a 2006 model diesel Passat. A very good car. It's depreciating a lot quicker now, but there you go.

I wish they had a diesel - Tesla trade-in deal

It will not go down much more than it has now, I gave £900 for an estate version a few weeks ago.

Goodness me! In Norway prises start at £4000 for a 2006 Passat estate. It doesnt pay to import though.

I'm sure its probably been said a few times in the 9 pages before this but they've found out that diesel particulates are immediately harmful to people's health :-(

Not being funny, but the problem of PM10 (particulates of around 10 um) has been well known for ages! My degree course mentioned it in 1995, and it wasn't exactly ground-breaking news then.
Not that it stopped me buying a diesel, though...

Current diesel cars are reasonably clean. Petrol ones too. The big problem is the diesel vans and small trucks that appear not to have any anti-pollution requirements.

I've never complained about cycling behind a modern diesel or petrol car but I hate cycling behind vans - I'm not sure why the government doesn't target these super polluting vehicles, especially from city centres where there is a large concentration of them.

Yip your right I first saw a program on it when I was back at school (I left school in 92 ) it apparently can near fatal for some folk IIRC. Perhaps I should have said the authorities are now taking it serious, that why the are trying now to curb diesels

Edit: and it did put me off buying a diesel when I saw the victims!

If you currently own a diesel powered car(Peugeot 208 1.4 HDI 98g/km) and are considering buying a brand new petrol powered car(Peugeot 1.2 Pure Tech 104g/km) which is more polluting over 3 years/30000miles, the production of the new car + 30000 miles or running running diesel car?

Depends if you're talking about global environment or just the local city in which I live/work.

New car obvsly more polluting to global environment and new car less polluting in my home city where it will be used. Pales in comparison to the real polluters which are those white vans and small trucks.

London already has for vans ( about five years ago ) From memory it cost me about 4k as i live about 1/2 a mile inside the zone ( Kempton park )
I did wonder at the time why they just picked on vans but i guess bringing these things in slow reduces the risk of the masses objecting .

Also, it is a ridiculous situation that buses, vans and taxis have been exempt from the tougher emissions laws applied to passenger cars over the last years. These make up a huge percentage of the vehicles on city streets each and every day, and they produce far more pollution than any (diesel car).
