Why won't my earphones stay stuck in my ears?

I thought that was one wire shorter than the other, but I do agree that it’s annoying.

I like the style with one short & 1 long wire when listening to the radio when cycling - the ear bud with the short wire goes in my left ear, and the longer wire is looped round my neck and tucked into my jersey/jacket which stops any pulling on the short one.
