The first fortnight is the worst.
I had a recorder and progressed to a Saxaphone and then electric guitar. Introduce her to a bit of Malmsteen and give her something to aim for.

Let me guess. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or is it Oh Little Town of Bethlehem?

Boots sell cotton wool, for your ears.

Enjoy every second of it. My daughter's twenty one now and I don't know where the years went. We were given a video of her singing "All I want for Christmas are My On Front Teeth" by a friend when she was about five years old. I managed to over-record it with a Die Hard film. Not good.

My sisters and I all started off on the recorder. We then progressed to piano (2 of us), clarinet, cello and French horn. My mother says it was OK so long as all 3 of us didn't practice at the same time... I don't know what the neighbours thought...

(The horn player met the man who is now her husband when they were both in a youth orchestra...)

Especially if it was Die Hard 4 or 5, the others not so bad.

Here for rides.
I learnt to play the recorder when I was in my early 30's. And I got to meet 'Mr Recorder' himself. That got me back into backing singing. That got me into singing semi-pro. That got me into playing electric bass. That got me into trouble.

Slippery slope, recorders.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Mine started with a recorder. We had three different types. Eldest daughter progressed to a saxophone and youngest to the flute.
Progressed to a sax? Crumbs. I'd much rather listen to a recorder played well than the caterwaulings of a saxophonist.
