wife unreasonable?

I have just had to turn down two requests for leave later this year, which has been unpopular. However I have a departmrnt to staff and that requires a minimum level.

There is no "fair" way to do it and no easy scheme that will allow everyone the time off that they want.

I suppose I expect the wives / partners to accept my decisions.

Yeh, not to mention you've just ruined their wedding and honeymoon plans.
Shame on you, Cunobelin!

You are right, your wife is stressing over something that might not happen and if you get the extension to your contract it would be a bonus and perhaps a gateway to many holidays. Tell her not to be so short sighted and leg it............

Actually that is something else you have to be careful of!

We had one member of staff who always had an unmissable occasion or plan that meant she had to take the leave she wanted.

Stop. Right. There.
Check the calendar...Is it her 'certain time of the month'?

Shut the kitchen door. You won't be able to hear her anymore.

Gentlemen, I can hear the rumble of outraged feminists heading your way :boxing:

Unfortunately even if he was eligible for sick pay, going off sick for a week wouldn't work as Royal Mail are known to have managers come round and knock on your door to 'see if there is any way they can help you back to work' and they also ask you to go in to work while you are off sick to attend a back to work interview with the manager, usually after a couple of days off!

Im sure they are not allowed to do this, just a phone call to see how you are.

No that's not right and is harassing someone when they're off sick - technically a back to work interview should take place when the employee is back at work. One phone call (and one only) is acceptable to see how someone is but not repeated calls.

Does the notion of what's 'acceptable' still have any purchase in a world where posties are employed on three month contracts?
