I am puzzled by the Big Red though and may have to go along to have a look. Spent a fair bit of time in Austria and unless things have changed, street food was never that big. I do like Austrian food, they follow the simple Germanic principle that a meal is meat with a side order of veg. Not lots of veg with a bit of meat hidden away.

The Amersham Arms is in New Cross not Deptford. And it's definitely not trendy. I went along Arklow Road a couple of days ago and they haven't even started building their stack of boxes there yet. I know the Evening Standard doesn't know where Deptford is but that doesn't stop me wishing they'd all just go away anyway.

In the Birds Nest's defence, there are usually a fair number of bikes outside it. They're usually still there the following morning, true, but it can be hard remembering how you got there.

I won't defend my teenage manor, but grudgingly accept it has improved and does have some pretty spots and artwork now.

My sister just posted a selection of photos online.

I'd feel safer there than Brixton, if that's a compliment.
