Typical, Tuesday morning, back to work and the wind has dropped to virtually nothing

Rode a total of 45 miles during the weekend, 40 of which seemed to be battling strong head or side winds!

I went out for a quick spin this afternoon after work. The first 10 miles were great: I was hammering it along and pedalling just seemed effortless.

About 6 miles in it I realised that no-one was cycling the other way. Not a soul. There's a windsock I pass at this point and that didn't look good for the return journey. Anyway, I carried on for a few more miles, had a rest and came back. It was like hitting a wall. The wind is really strong from Reculver to Birchington as there's no shelter and the land is totally flat.

After a few miles I thought 'sod this' and stopped for cake!

I find the wind really dispiriting sometimes - all that effort just to crawl along, and it doesn't let up, ever.

I have written a strongly worded letter to the Met Office demanding that they re-direct the wind so that it will be a tailwind when I go out for an evening ride. I await their response.

I have also written to the Department of the Environment demanding that they remove the hills in my area as they slow me down.
