Windows 7 Bug

Dose any one know how to fix this, Every time I go in to explora and click on a folder it opens another dammed window.

Yes I have got it set to open in a single windows and yes I have check the registry.

It one of a small number of bugs that piss me off I am now using powerdesk as an alternative.

It an odd one and I not been able to find the annswer also got another bug when I minimize thunderbird msn messanger pops up.

Any help?

Do say go back to Vista that worse, I was considering a MAC!

Try going into "Folder Options" under the tools menus.

On the General tab there is an radio button to "open each folder in it's own window". If this is set, then that's your problem.

Set it to "open each folder in the same window".

Hackbike was right, it was Win 98 which had the SE version, SE standing for Second Edition.

There was never a Win2k ME. Win2k and Win ME were two versions which appeared at the same time. Win2k was the pro/business version (based on Win NT) and Win ME being an update of Win98/SE for consumers.

Correct, and to finish on ME was bag of pants not much worse than vista though!

What is it with people slagging Vista off (Garz!), I know it was sh*t when it was first released, crap hardware support, odd bugs (200 years to copy a CD anyone?) but it did get sorted in the end. Apart from the start bar, very little is different in Windows 7, even my benchmarks only differ by less than 1 percent.

ME on the other hand really was crap, very unreliable indeed and inconsistent.

I have been using different OS' since the first windows offering, if they release a product that is buggy and unfinished then don't expect it to get much praise.

My main gripe with vista was completely bloated, bad enough for the desktop let alone crippling laptops.

I can agree with that to an extent, in fact I can't remember not slagging off ANY microsoft OS at some point or other for the buggy and unfinished reasons (yes, even XP at the start).

But my point was really that Vista got sorted out in the end and win7 has very little that is different nowadays. For some reason though, Win7 is great and Vista is still a turd...does not compute.

ps. ran Vista from day1 and now on win7. Vista got fixed slowly and win7 is just an extension of a fixed Vista, still bloated btw, but at least the drivers worked from day1.

The same will happen if your shift key is stuck down. That opens explorer folder in a new window. I use the on screen keyboard quite a bit with a media PC and am forever doing this.

Ok two points to highlight on here.

1) You defend Vista saying it 'got sorted out in the end'. O.K and how long did it take right? Weeks, months? Yes it was just a poor stop gap for between XP and 7 IMHO.

2) You also state 'ran vista from day1 and now on win7'. This re-enforces my argument, you moved onto a better product...

7 is not as bloated as vista btw, its been designed to accommodate the mobile laptop/notebook. I was unfortunate to have jumped into the vista version, it was bought along with other components to build a machine from scratch so I wasnt that gutted. I got windows 7 around release so that I can throw it onto another machine if I wish to.

1) Point taken, it was a crap experience waiting for things to get sorted out.

2) I'm a day-zero kind of guy, even if it hurts. Proof: I ran ME for 9 months!

Win7 was a disappointment to me though, the hype made me expect so much more. Of course you are ultimately right though, Win7 is a better product than Vista. That's progress.
