I feel like I could... TAKE ON THE WORLD!!
8 and 10 both crap. Designed as touchscreen software, which does not translate well to PC's.
Used them all from 3.1 onwards. By far the worst IMO
I don't have any issues with 10. 8 was the real bad windows which tried to go full touchscreen. 10 rolled that back.

Never had a problem with W10 on my PC. I don't understand all the "W10 is crap" comments! Mind you, my PC was W8.1 and so W10 did seem like an improvement.
It was a little rocky when it was first released but it was more stable than Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows 95 (ooops - showing my age there!) when they were first released....
I have just had a look at my win 10 update history and it would appear all updates have failed as far as the records go back (feb 17) - what's that all about ?
Mine as well were failing to update , I ran windows update trouble shooter , type windows update in search box bottom left and then click on "find and fix windows update problems"

I also had that update problem. Tried the 'find and fix Windows update problems' but that didn't work either.
Have you found a solution? My daughters laptop is having the same problem. Been working on it all day but not fixed yet. There have even been suggestions of turning off anti-virus - not sure if this a wise move given the ransomware that's about right now! It's taking close on 45 minutes to get through a "update and restart" loop at the moment.

An excerpt from the above:

Windows 10 Home and Pro has, right now, two levels of data collection, Basic and Full. When a computer is in Basic mode, Microsoft says Win 10 takes a note of the state of your hardware and its specifications, your internet connection quality, records of crashes and hangs by software, any compatibility problems, driver usage data, which apps you've installed and how you use them, and other bits and pieces.

In Full mode, shedloads more is sent over. It includes everything at the Basic level plus records of events generated by the operating system, and your "inking and typing data." Engineers, with permission from Microsoft’s privacy governance team, can obtain users' documents that trigger crashes in applications, so they can work out what's going wrong. The techies can also run diagnostic tools remotely on the computers, again with permission from their overseers.

In the Creators Update, aka Windows 10 version 1703, all this information will be collected in Basic mode. A lot of it is to help Microsofties pinpoint the cause of crashes and potential new malware infections, although it includes things like logs of you giving applications administrator privileges via the UAC, battery life readings, firmware version details, details of your hardware down to the color and serial number of the machine, which cell network you're using, and so on.

Then there's the information collected in Full mode, which includes everything in Basic plus your user settings and preferences, your browser choice, lists of your peripherals, the apps you use to edit and view images and videos, how long you use the mouse and keyboard, all the applications you've ever installed, URLs to videos you've watched that triggered an error, URLs to music that triggered an error, time spent reading ebooks, text typed in a Microsoft web browser's address and search bar, URLs visited, visited webpage titles, the words you've spoken to Cortana or had translated to text by the system, your ink strokes, and more.

The above irks me but perhaps not those of you who are already happy with your life's data being hoovered up by your Android phone and flogged to god knows who.

But there is hope - they seem to have messed up the update that needs to be installed BEFORE the "creators update" so many will never get there (I wish!).

Win10 just seems to create more and more problems. Home users can't (easily) opt-out of updates so if something goes wrong, it just tries the download again. In this case another 1GB download. Thanfully I'm on unlimited because it's done this probably 10 times today. Hopefully they will sort it out soon, but for now the Windows update service remains disabled.
Might be worth getting a Win7 disc from ebay...
